A nationally recognized education leader and advocate, Melodie has devoted her career to advancing education opportunities for disadvantaged students. As National Policy Director, she works to promote equitable math education policy through national partnerships, policy initiatives, and research.
Since joining Just Equations in 2020, she has strengthened the organization’s national presence, expanding partnerships with research institutes, advocacy organizations and policy leaders. A widely sought-after speaker on math education policy and research, she has also authored numerous op-eds, and reports that shed light on critical education issues.
Beyond her role at Just Equations, Melodie actively participates in various national and state-wide councils, including The Equity Coalition for the Education Trust New York. She also holds positions on the SUNY Erie Board of Trustees, Launch New York, and Governor Hochul's Early Childhood Advisory Council.
Previously, Melodie was the Director of Education for the United Way in Buffalo, New York.
Melodie earned her PhD in Educational Psychology and Quantitative Methods from the State University of New York at Buffalo in May 2023. She also holds an advanced graduate certificate in Applied Statistical Analysis, a Master's in Executive Leadership and Change, and a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations.
