Executive Director
,
California Education Lab
University of California, Davis School of Education

Sherrie Reed is executive director of the California Education Lab at the University of California, Davis School of Education, where she leads research and evaluation on the policies and systems shaping students’ transitions from high school to college and careers in California. Reed’s research has informed conversations among policymakers and education leaders across California. She has testified before the California State Board of Education, delivered keynote addresses and presentations at regional and statewide conferences, and shared her expertise with superintendents and other education leaders across the state. She also served for six years on the board of the California Educational Research Association. Before joining the California Education Lab, she worked as a special education teacher and school administrator, developed charter schools, and served as director of research and evaluation for an education nonprofit. These experiences have shaped her approach to research, which combines a practitioner’s understanding of schools and education systems with a researcher’s focus on rigorous evidence. Reed holds a Ph.D. in School Organization and Education Policy from the University of California, Davis, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Northern Colorado.
