Access to a rigorous mathematical education is a civil right. Yet years of evidence reveals a high degree of stratification in math achievement, with stark divides by race and income. These inequities lead to underrepresentation of people of color and those raised in poverty in technology fields, not to mention inconsistent access to digital technology. The current era of rampant online bias, deception, and disinformation only compounds these educational injustices. Just Equations founder Pamela Burdman introduced Maya Wiley, noted lawyer, professor, and civil rights activist, to discuss the imperative of advancing education equity in the age of artificial intelligence.
