Chelsea Jeffery grew up in Coppell, Texas; she graduated from Coppell High School and received a Presidential Scholarship to Southern Methodist University. At SMU, through public policy courses, Jeffery was exposed to the systemic inequities in our public education system. In 2012, she joined Teach for America, teaching algebra, geometry, and math models at a public charter high school in Dallas that is one of the Texans Can Academies. Since leaving the classroom in 2014, Jeffery has been with the Commit Partnership, where she has worked on initiatives involving data and analysis, early math, early literacy, pre-K enrollment, and child care access and quality. Jeffery currently oversees Commit’s work on early childhood, middle grades, and math pathways, and educator effectiveness and strategic staffing to enable more students to build strong academic foundations that set them on a pathway for college and career readiness and living wage attainment.
