David Bressoud is retired from the department of mathematics, statistics, and computer science at Macalester College. He is former director of the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences, former president of the Mathematical Association of America, and former chair of the AP Calculus Development Committee. He has written numerous texts on calculus, including an AP Calculus text, and other mathematical subjects. He is also the author of Calculus Reordered: A History of the Big Ideas. He served as principal investigator for two National Science Foundation–sponsored national studies of college calculus: The Role of Calculus in the Transition From High School to College Mathematics and Progress Through Calculus.
