Ricardo Moena is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, where he also serves as a Director of Entry Level Mathematics. At the Ohio Department of Higher Education, Dr. Moena is currently the chairperson of the Transfer Module Mathematics, Statistics, and Logic Committee and chairperson of the Ohio mathematics subgroup, focused on revision and redesign of the Ohio Transfer Module (OTM). The subgroup is a component of the OMI, Ohio Mathematics Initiative, launched in 2015. It is formed by faculty from 2-year, 4-year, and research-1 public institutions of higher education with the mission of determining learning outcomes and research-based pedagogies to increase success and retention rates of all groups of students in the entry-level pathways. Previously for a period of 10 years, Dr. Moena was the chair of the Math & Applied Sciences Department of the former University College of the University of Cincinnati, the two-year, open-access unit of the University. Dr. Moena received his Ph.D. in mathematics in 1990 at the University of Cincinnati after receiving an MS in mathematics at the University of Concepcion, Concepcion, Chile.
