Sherrie Reed

Sherrie Reed serves as Executive Director for California Education Lab.  In this role, Sherrie is managing and directing the research efforts of numerous federal and foundation grants and supporting the faculty Principal Investigators. These projects represent unprecedented collaboration among the primary public education segments in the state of California, including formal partnership between the University of California, Davis and the California Department of Education, and collaboration with the California State University Chancellor’s Office, the University of California Office of the President, and the California Community College Chancellor’s Office, the California Student Aid Commission.

Sherrie earned her Ph.D. from University of California Davis, School of Education. Drawing on her history as a school practitioner and charter school developer, her doctoral research focused on efforts in school reform. First, Sherrie investigated the various accountability mechanisms affecting charter schools in California. Second, Sherrie examined student perceptions of school climate across more than 100 schools in a school reform network. Finally, Sherrie looked at school finance issues in California’s charter schools, comparing the spending and saving patterns for California’s charter schools and traditional public schools over nine years.  Her work is published in the Journal of School Choice.
