Yeshimabeit “Yeshi” Milner is the founder and CEO of Data for Black Lives. She has worked since the age of 17 as a movement builder, technologist, and data scientist. She started Data for Black Lives because, after straddling the worlds of data and organizing, she was determined to harness the power of data to make change in the lives of Black people. For seven years, Data for Black Lives has been working to change the conversation around big data and technology across the US and globally. Milner is an Echoing Green Fellow, an Ashoka Fellow, and was included on Forbes’ 2020 list of 30 under-30 Social Entrepreneurs. In 2020, she also received a New York Times Good Tech Award for Data for Black Lives’ COVID-19 database. In 2021, she was awarded a John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award, which recognizes leaders under 40 who have made significant contributions to public service. Most recently, she was recognized by The Chronicle of Philanthropy as one of 33 leaders standing up to big tech in the age of artificial intelligence.
