Varying Approaches to Modernizing High School Math

This session offered a high-level view of how states are redesigning high school math pathways with a goal of strengthening student outcomes for diverse student populations. State-level leaders and advocates explored the benefits and challenges associated with such redesigns—including accelerated, STEM, and non-STEM pathways—and examined the evidence supporting different approaches. They also considered how to effectively communicate curricular changes to stakeholders, including teachers, counselors, parents, and students. The session will provide valuable insights into the latest developments in high school math education.
