Just Equations Executive Director Pamela Burdman puts the recent report about declining math preparation at UC San Diego in context and calls on California to ensure that its education systems collectively improve quantitative literacy.
Burdman writes: “The problem is not unique to San Diego or California, and the solution is not as simple as reinstating admissions tests, which numerous commenters have suggested. Reversing the decline requires a nuanced analysis and the kind of strategic collaboration among high school and college educators that occurs outside of newspaper columns.”
